Magnums of Château de Selle by Domaines Ott : This is the most famous producer of Dry Rosé in the world, located in southern France in Provence. Full of finesse and richness, with focused berry, orange peel and spice complexities, Domaine Ott is the quintessential example of Dry Rosé from Provence. Marcel Ott, an agricultural engineer with a pioneer spirit, set out to create a wine estate in 1896 and this is considered by many to be the best Dry Rosé in the world. Made from handpicked Cabernet, Grenache and Cinsault grapes, the wine is ultimately aged in oak for 8 months giving it more body and dry extract.
Chateau de Selle was acquired in 1912. It is situated on the plateaux of the Var, not far from Le Luc, in the heart of Côtes de Provence country encompassing 110 hectares, including 48 devoted to wine production. The Château was the former dwelling of the Counts of Provence and is a superb 18th-c. country house. The surrounding estate was entirely carved into the rocky land by Marcel Ott, his children and grandchildren.
Crystal-clear, pink-gold hue. The nose opens with the freshness of citrus fruit (pomelo, bergamot) then reveals elegant floral notes mingled with yellow peach and mango. The wine fresh and silky on entry and then grows on the palate revealing aromas of kumquat and a mineral character that lead to a lingering and delicately spicy finish. This pairs well with flambéed or glazed monkfish with vegetables, grilled poultry in a sauce, or fruit desserts.

Pale and coppery as usual, Ott's 2020 Cotes de Provence Rose Chateau de Selle boasts restrained aromas of peach, melon and citrus underscored by hints of crushed stone. In the mouth, it's medium-bodied and concentrated, with ample intensity, a slightly creamy texture and a long, mouthwatering finish. Like the other top rosés of Domaines Ott, this is a wine that is often better in its second year.

Pale salmon skin. Mineral-tinged red currant, raspberry, blood orange and white peach scents are complemented by a suave lavender nuance that builds in the glass. Silky and penetrating on the palate, offering concentrated red berry and pit fruit flavors sharpened by a bitter suggestion of orange pith. Finishes very long and smooth, with repeating floral and pit fruit notes.
