Elijah Craig Bourbon Barrel Event

We are thrilled to present our first Elijah Craig private barrel from Kentucky. Elijah Craig Small Batch is the signature Bourbon from Heaven Hill Distillery est. 1935, and bears the name of Reverand Elijah Craig, a Bourbon pioneer credited as the 1st distiller to age in charred oak barrels, and with creating the concept of ‘Small Batch’. Today, this is one of the hottest craft whiskies on the market. With its balanced-tasting 94 proof, our single barrel was aged 10 years in oak from Rye, Barley, Wheat and Corn. Complex, smooth, warm and woody with notes of vanilla bean, ripe fruit, mint, spice, smoke and nutmeg.

The Handy & Schiller Manhattan is crafted using Sazerac Rye Whiskey, Vermouth and Peychaud's Bitters. The cocktail rested in a Sazerac Rye barrel at the renowned Buffalo Trace Distillery, under the watchful eye of the Master Distiller. It is the perfect marriage of a balanced, flavorful Manhattan cocktail and the spicy vanilla oak of Sazerac Rye barrels. Enjoy neat or over ice and garnish with a cherry.

New Orleans is known as the birthplace of American cocktails, Two men who contributed richly to the cocktail culture in New Orleans were John Schiller and Thomas Handy. Schiller, a bartender working in New York, found his way to New Orleans and by 1860 was operating the world-famous Sazerac Coffeehouse in the French Quarter. Handy, a native of Maryland, was working for Schiller at the coffeehouse.  Handy later went on to establish a successful importing and wholesale liquor business. Handy and Schiller's roles in the early days of New Orleans' cocktails would serve as inspiration for over 150 years of libations in one of America's most unique cities.
