Faust Cabernet Sauvignon 2015
Faust Winery celebrates a legend which has inspired many great minds, among them the German poet Goethe, from whose masterpiece the Huneeus' drew their inspiration. In Goethe’s most famous work, the aging scholar Dr. Faust barters his soul in the afterlife in exchange for another chance at youth. He gets his chance, yet ultimately his soul is saved by love. A balance of ancient art and contemporary technology transforms the finest grapes grown in the Faust vineyard into a bold, California-style wine that will harmonize with fine food.
James SucklingA dense yet fresh red with a blueberry and blackberry character and hints of tobacco and dark chocolate. Light bitterness adds to the complexity on the palate. Layered and beautiful. Juicy fruit at the finish. Drink or hold.
Wine AdvocateA barrel sample, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon is deep garnet-purple colored, with a decadent cassis, baked blackberries and plum preserves-scented nose, plus hints of spice cake, cedar and Marmite toast. Full-bodied, rich, concentrated and wonderfully spicy in the mouth, it has velvety tannins and just enough freshness, finishing long. 92-94
