Joel Gott California Zinfandel 2014

SKU 13608

This is a rich blend of old vine Zinfandel vineyards from Lodi, Amador, Napa and Sonoma. Many of the vineyards are dry farmed, gnarly head-trained vines which produce super concentrated fruit. The wine is dark ruby red color with supple fruit, great depth and mouth filling tannins. Classic currant, plum and sweet oak aromas lead to ripe berries, juicy black fruit, and spicy flavors with a long, sweet finish. Usually a blend of 96% Zinfandel with 4% Petite Syrah, the wine is raised 30% in new American oak and 70% in 1 and 2 year-old French barrels for 10 months. Serve with grilled chicken, burgers and BBQ ribs, or with simple pasta dishes with red sauces.

Wine EnthusiastThis is a full-bodied but also subtle and complex-flavored wine. The aromas bring in mild wood smoke and black-pepper notes, then the flavors add ample fruitiness without going to jamminess. The overall effect is one of sophistication.
