The Pecchenino family has worked in viticulture for over four generations and made the leap from grower to estate winery under the brothers Orlando and Attilio Pecchenino. Today, Pecchenino consists of 54 acres in Dogliani and an additional seven acres in Monforte. Focused on the production of high-quality Dolcetto, Nebbiolo and a few other select varietals, Pecchenino’s vines are nurtured by hand from the vines to the winemaking. In addition to its consistent high quality, Pecchenino distinguishes itself by aging its Dolcetto in oak, resulting in Dolcetto wines with an aging potential of over 10 years.
In the municipality of Dogliani, on the “Bricco Botti”, the Pecchenino winery is located. It was born from the renovation of an old 18th century farmhouse that the family bought in 1994. Since the year 2007, a part of it has been used as Bed & Breakfast Casa Pecchenino to accommodate and welcome guests and visitors. The Dogliani DOCG production area is renowned as the very best area in the world for the Dolcetto grape. This area is situated in the south of Piedmont, in the southern part of the Langhe. This is why the 20 hectares surrounding this property are planted mainly to Dolcetto, followed by Nebbiolo and Barbera.
This very lovely, bright red wine is fruit-forward with aromas of currants, raspberries, blackberries and plums followed by ripe flavors of more plums, raspberries and black cherry, with hints of earth, licorice, smoke and chocolate. Dolcetto is a medium-bodied red wine with a dry tannic bite and a splash of acidity that makes it perfect with Antipasto platters, Spaghetti and Meatballs, Pasta Bolognese, Baked Ziti, Veal Marsala, Bruschetta, Lasagna, and Cioppino. This wine is also certified organic and vegan.

The 2020 Dogliani San Luigi is fruity, open knit and delicious, with plenty of red cherry/plum fruit character. Bright floral notes perk up the finish.

This is a classic newbie Dolcetto with raw and tangy sensations of fresh-off-the-tree cherries and forest berries. Dolcetto is loved locally in Piedmont for its ability to pair with appetizers or informal foods served outdoors by the barbecue. The Pecchenino 2020 Dogliani San Luigi is exceptionally bright, exuberant and so much fun.

Tightly wound, displaying cherry, blackberry, iron and wild herb flavors. Though grippy, the tannins are well-integrated and this should open nicely in 6 months to a year.
