Château La Fleur Cravignac has a long history in the Saint-Emilion region of Bordeaux. It takes its name from Jean-Baptiste Lavau de Cravignac who was a parliamentary lawyer who was also Mayor of Saint-Emilion in 1730 and again in 1752. The château was passed down through the family and by the beginning of 20th century had become a favorite at the French parliament.
This 19-hectare estate sits on the Saint-Emilion plateau and is just 1 km north-west of the village of Saint-Emilion itself. The soil consists of clay and silica and the vines are on average 40 years old. The grapes are picked by hand and sorted at the winery. Vinification is standard and is carried out in concrete vats. Aging takes place in French oak barrels, all medium toast, one third of which are renewed each year. 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon.

This is a glorious 2019 filled with the expected ripe, sweet, fleshy fruit. Very pure and red fruit-dominant with velvety underlying tannins and stony soil notes. Powerful and serious, yet approachable and sensual.
