Marietta Cellars is a second-generation winery that continues to transform hard work, a blessed climate, special pieces of land, and belief into beautiful liquid expressions of family and place. For decades Marietta has produced wine by purchasing high quality fruit from local friends and farmers. Some of these meaningful relationships led to the acquisition of some of those same vineyards that they had been working with for years. In the case of Geyserville, owner Scot Bilbro's father worked the land and gained the trust of Viola Angeli before she offered he purchase it. The McDowell Vineyard relationship would never have happened if not for a freshly harvested abalone. The Bilbro family has always relied on friendships, community and personal connections. The results are in every bottle of Marietta wine.
Christo (as his Great-Aunt Marietta called him) is crafted in honor of Scott Bilbro's father. This California grown Rhône varietal blend is focused and piquant with a smack of black pepper, lifted by the scent of dried roses. It surges with ripe Rainier cherries, a touch of dark chocolate, and a depth of black tea and licorice, delivering both power and balance with a seemingly endless finish.

A blend of Syrah, Grenache, Petite Sirah and Viognier, the 2019 Christo has a deep ruby-purple color and alluring scents of blueberry jam and cassis with accents of loamy earth, violet, coffee beans and iron. The full-bodied palate is powerful yet silky, with seamless acidity and gobs of pure violet perfume on the long, layered finish. It's easy to drink now but offers a decade or more of cellaring potential.

This bold and nicely oaked red wine offers deep, dark-fruit flavors and attractive accents of vanilla, cinnamon and dark chocolate on a full-body backed by moderate tannins. It is tasty, rich and mouthfilling.

Deeply structured and youthful with torque, this blend slowly reveals dark cherry, bittersweet chocolate and black olive flavors as it builds toward broad-shouldered tannins. Syrah, Grenache, Petite Sirah and Viognier. Best from 2024 through 2034. 9,000 cases made.
