The Sinegal Estate and Winery is located on a historic Napa site in the heart of the St. Helena AVA, first planted to grape vines in 1881. Production has been continuous through many different generations of winemakers before the Sinegal family purchased the St. Helena property in 2013. A multi-million dollar expansion and modernization produced the first wines under the Sinegal label just a year later to enviable critical reviews and ratings. Today Sinegal produces four estate-bottled wines on 9 1/2 acres of organic vines, including: Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon.
Owner and General Manager David Sinegal is a keen business strategist and visionary with a passion for marketing and innovation, and an unabashedly obsessive eye for detail. He is the son of James Sinegal, the founder and former CEO & President of Costco Wholesale. David worked as an executive for Costco, Frito Lay and Starbucks before moving to St. Helena, CA to purchase and establish his own winery.
David believes that in order to do anything well, one must be fully invested. That’s why he and his family now live on the Sinegal property – so he can 'sleep at the office'. Being on the estate full-time inspires David every day to create a 360-degree guest experience with exceptional wine, delicious food, and a beautiful environment.
The winemaker, Ryan Knoth, is no stranger to the top names in the industry. Having spent time working with David Abreu and Michel Rolland, Ryan has seen how some of the top wines are made. At Sinegal Estate the motto is to take a field-first, micro-farming, and fermenting approach to winemaking. With just over nine acres of grapes, the team gets to know every vine up close and personal. Using traditional methods of farming and modern methods of fermenting, they are able to meticulously craft a distinct bottle of wine that captures the true spirit of this magnificent estate.

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is every bit as magnificent as it was last year. A heady, statuesque wine, the 2019 captures all the pedigree of the vintage. Inky red cherry fruit, mocha, licorice and spice race across the palate. The 2019 is bright, deep and powerful, with exceptional balance and tons of class. It's a stunning wine, to say the least. The move towards a slightly less pushed style, with less overt oak signatures, has paid off big time. This is a fabulous showing.

I loved the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon, and it's certainly going to over-deliver. Terrific notes of cassis, white flowers, graphite, and classy oak give way to a rich, medium to full-bodied red with classic Cabernet character, beautiful balance, ripe tannins, and a great finish. 94-96
