Situated on the eastern slopes of the Napa Valley, the Snowden Ranch lies just east of the Rutherford and St. Helena appellations, a few miles south of Howell Mountain, and a mile north of Pritchard Hill. Here at the confluence of these appellations, the Snowden family tends 23 acres of vineyards planted in the hidden valleys and on the gentler hillsides of the Vaca Mountains. The goal here is to create classically styled, terroir-driven wines which reflect the unique heritage and character of this site. The Snowden's came to this property in 1955 – originally a 160 acre homestead, the ranch has a grape-growing history dating back to 1878. During decades of stewardship, four generations of Snowdens have been privileged to walk the woods and vineyards of this lovely and secluded place.
This powerful and layered wine from the Snowden family is densely packed with black plums, pencil lead, cedar, resin and dark fruit flavors. It is long and dense lingering on the palate for minutes. The Brothers 2018 may be delicious now, but it will get even better in the cellar and show the full spectrum of its aromatic and textural potential. Aged 18 months in French oak, 50% new 50% used, fermented dry, with no residual sugar, the final alcohol clocked in at 15.3%. Only 681 cases produced.

This is ripe warm in feel and very polished with alluring cassis plum reduction and melted black licorice notes pouring through while sleek alder loam and bay leaf accents form the backdrop for a long steady finish. Gorgeous. Best from 2022 through 2038. 673 cases made.

The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Brothers Vineyard is a big step up in this range. There is an energy and vibrancy in the flavors that really distinguishes the Brothers. Bright acids and veins of supporting tannin lend striking vibrancy. I wouldn't plan on touching a bottle anytime soon. There is so much to look forward to here.
