Brand Louis Jadot

Founded in 1859, by Louis Henry Denis Jadot, he was the first of his family to arrive in Beaune from Belgium in 1794 and soon began purchasing Premier and Grand Cru vineyards in Burgundy. With grape growing a part of his heritage, Louis Henry set about gaining experience first in the cellars, in the evaluation of wines, and then in the vineyards, in the study of viticulture. The house of Louis Jadot has grown through a long-term policy of acquisition or management of exceptional vineyard lands and currently owns 528 acres of vineyards, including nearly 280 acres of the Cote d’Or’s most prestigious Premier and Grand Cru plots. In Burgundy’s Côte d’Or, where the integrity of the producer is often more important than a renowned appellation or vineyard, Maison Louis Jadot is one of the most venerable, most trusted and revered wine houses. Jadot’s winemaking team, now led by Technical Director Frédéric Barnier, has maintained a balance of tradition and technology in winemaking that allows Jadot’s wines to express the subtle differences between terroirs that are the essence of fine Burgundy. Though officially retired in 2013, esteemed winemaker Jacques Lardière continues to work in an advisory role and on special projects.

Located in the Côte des Blancs region of the Côte de Beaune, Bâtard-Montrachet is the largest of the five Grands Crus of the Côte des Blancs, with eastern sun exposure and chalky soil. This Chardonnay wine is fermented and aged for an average of 18 months in oak barrels. Full-bodied, rich and powerful, Bâtard-Montrachet has intense aromas and flavors of almonds, apple, white flowers and spices, with incredible length. This wine will develop favorably for 10 to 20 years after the vintage. This rich wine is ideal paired with equally rich appetizers and elegant main courses such as foie gras, lobster and scallops.

The 2019 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru (Maison Louis Jadot) is promising, bursting with aromas of citrus zest, buttered orchard fruit, toasted bread, fresh mint and white flowers. Full-bodied, rich and concentrated, it's layered and textural, with tangy acids and a saline finish. 93-95

The 2019 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru has a more nuanced and mineral-driven bouquet compared to the Bienvenues. It unfurls with green apple and dewy meadow scents, displaying fine definition. The well-balanced palate is quite spicy and vibrant, delivering a fine bead of acidity and more penetration than the Bienvenues on the finish. There is a captivating spicy aftertaste, too. Give this 4 to 5 years in bottle. 94

A ripe style, bordering on tropical fruit flavors, this white exhibits flashes of pineapple and coconut that grace notes of lime and white flowers. Intense and balanced, with a tactile feel on the long finish.

An expressive and attractively fresh nose freely offers up intricately layered aromas of spiced apple, poached pear, citrus confit and a whiff of exotic jasmine tea. The big-bodied, intense and imposingly powerful flavors drench the palate in dry extract that also buffers the firm acid spine shaping the compact, powerful and impeccably well-balanced finish.
