Brand | Luigi Voghera |
The Voghera family have been farmers in Neive in Barbaresco for many, many generations. They grew grapes for a modest production of family wine, but also cultivated grain and fruit trees. The estate as we know it today was born in 1974, when Luigi Voghera, the father of the current owner, dedicated his farm entirely to the production of grapes and started to vinify and bottle his own production. Luigi’s son Livio adheres to his father’s old-school and time-tested methods of production: longer maceration on the skins, and aging in large oak cask. All of Livio’s offerings are estate bottled, and across the board tremendous values.
Made of 100% Barbera from vines up to 30 years of age, this is sourced from three hectares in the Cotta cru of Neive and grown at an elevation of 200-250 meters above sea level. Cotta is one of our favorite vineyards for Barbaresco, always very pretty and fresh, so we love this expression of the Barbera from this great site. Fermentation and maturation occur in stainless steel tanks. 1,600-2,000 cases produced annually.
