Domaine Campu Vecchiu Dry Rose Corse 2018
Domaine Campu Vecchiu Rosé hails from the French island of Corsica in the Mediterranean. Owned by the Robinet family for four generations, Campu Vecchiu is located on the eastern coast of the island, comprised of 69 hectares. The clay and pebble soils are planted with local varieties such as Sciaccarellu and Niellucciu, as well as international varieties.
The family's winemaker, Alain Leymarie, possesses over 20 years of experience working in Corsica. His vast knowledge has helped him to produce a classic dry Rosé. The grapes used to make Domaine Campu Vecchiu’s Rosé are harvested at night to keep them cool and to avoid any risk of oxidation. The juices are drained and cooled to 50 degrees Fahrenheit. This is followed by short low-temperature maceration, setting, and temperature-controlled fermentation and aging in stainless steel. The final blend was 45% Sciaccarellu, 25% Niellucciu (Sangiovese) and 30% Grenache. Charming in personality, and dry in nature, this Rosé is full of red fruit and salty shell & stone flavors, with the perfect touch of acidity on the palate.
