Domaine Huet is an iconic Vouvray producer and lauded for making some of the world's most compelling dry white wines from the Chenin Blanc, AND some of the longest-lived sweet wines of the same grape. Founded in 1928 by Gaston Huet with the purchase of the vineyard "Le Haut Lieu", the estate expanded in the mid-1950s with the acquisition of two additional vineyards on the Première Côte -- Le Mont (purchased in 1957) and Clos du Bourg (farmed since 1953, purchased in 1963) -- which ensured the domaine’s place in the French wine pantheon.  Today Domaine Huet is owned and operated by American brother-sistor duo, Sarah & Hugo Hwang, who have kept the team in tact, including manager Jean-Bernard Berthomé who joined the estate in 1979. With his years of experience working with the appellation's greatest terroirs, Jean-Bernard and his team are achieving incredible transparency, purity, and balance in the wines of this world-renowned estate.

Since its founding in 1928, Vouvray’s Domaine Huët has been the standard-bearer for great, ageworthy Chenin Blanc. And to this day, year after year, the estate produces some of the world’s most compelling white wines—and in a remarkable range that spans sparkling, dry, semi-dry, and breathtaking dessert styles.

This wine here, a dry Vouvray, is made from certified biodynamic vines in an ancient, walled vineyard named Clos du Bourg, with the estate’s shallowest, stoniest soils. This wine is rich and intense. Many consider this to be Vouvray’s finest single vineyard site.
The soils are limestone-rich and clay in this 6 hectare vineyard. All the grapes are harvested by hand, ensuring only the best bunches of ripest (or even botrytised) grapes are picked. Noel Pinguet was one of the first French vignerons to adopt biodynamic viticulture and credit biodynamics with enhancing the personalities of the estate's terroirs.  This wine undergoes temperature-controlled fermentation in large, old oak demi-muids as well as stainless steel vats. There is no encouragement of the malolactic fermentation, thus many Huet wines remain rich in malic acid, a character that brings an age-worthiness to the wines. Aged in large demi-muids.
