Joseph Drouhin Gevrey Chambertin 2015
The village of Gevrey-Chambertin is located in the Northern part of Côte de Nuits. The soil is chalky, with a good covering layer of clayey marl which gives the wines their strength and roundness. Lying on a gentle slope, the vineyards are planted between 240 and 280 meters above sea level (720 to 840 feet) for the Joseph Drouhin offering. By law, a Gevrey-Chambertin may only be a red wine made of 100% Pinot Noir., and classic food pairings would be Burgundy's famous dishes : beef bourguignon and coq au vin, and will also pair beautifully with grilled meats and fine French cheeses.

Wine SpectatorCaptivating aromas and flavors of pure cherry, mineral, tobacco and spice mark this supple red. Beautifully balanced, this remains long on the finish, driven by succulent acidity. Best from 2020 through 2033.—B.S.
Bottle ShopLook for aromas of black cherry, blackberry, subtle wood and licorice followed by more of the same in the mouth along with gentle spice, nutmeg and leather. The tannins are fresh and silky at first, becoming more velvety as the wine opens up. This is a classic Gevrey.
Wine EnthusiastA ripe wine from a fine vintage, this is full of rich red-berry fruits, tannins and balanced acidity. It is still young, although all the elements for an excellent wine are in place. Let the tannins soften and drink from 2021.
VinousMedium red. High-pitched scents of cranberry, dark cherry and red rose. Juicy, spicy and quite firm, with its slight leanness and notes of bitter chocolate, menthol and herbs suggesting a wide range of ripeness. Is there enough stuffing for the firm, slightly dusty tannins? Finishes with an impression of medicinal reserve.
