Domaine Martin, a traditional and respected domaine located in Sancerre, is owned and run by the young Pierre Martin. After working alongside his father, Yves, he started his own domaine from a scant 4 ha of vines in the best village of Sancerre--Chavignol. The vines are raised using sustainable agriculture, using absolutely no herbicides or pesticides. The soil found in these beautiful, high altitude vineyards is a mixture of caillottes (stony, chalky pebbles) and terres blanches (a mixture of clay and limestone). The average age of his vines is 35+ years old. All vinification is done in temperature controlled stainless steel tank with indigenous yeasts and 4-6 months aging on fine lees with minimal batonnage.
Dry, light-bodied and enchantingly acidic, the wine's aromas prance out of the glass with aromas of tangerine, green apple and lemon peel. The caillottes and terres blanches impart their majestic, mouthwatering minerality and superior, rounded depth that lead to an extended, slightly-floral and memorable finish.
500 cases produced of which 150 were imported to the U.S.
