Super Values in Good Red Burgundy
Trio of Elite Bourgogne Rouge from $32.99
Plus Bonus Bourgogne from Chitry

The region of Burgundy, France has been growing the noble, elegant PINOT NOIR grape since 150 B.C. Throughout the Côte d'Or, famous villages such as Chambolle-Musigny, Vosne-Romanée, Pommard and Gevrey-Chambertin are home to prestigious domaines who also produce excellent Bourgogne Rouge wines. Our first example and a terrific value at $32.99 is from the historic fourth generation Drouhin family. Their 2021 Bourgogne is a classic example with bright red berry fruit, hints of vanilla and signature Drouhin elegance. Next from a renowned Vosne-Romanée producer, Mongeard-Mugneret Bourgogne was made from vines up to 50 years old, 100% de-stemmed fruit and aged in older barrels. This is always an impressive, rich style and even better at $10 off / bottle! Our third wine is made by two sisters, Anne & Catherine Parent, the 12th generation in their family to produce exquisite, ageworthy village wines from Pommard, Volnay and Beaune. Their 2020 Bourgogne rouge is exclusively made from de-classified Pommard & Volnay, certified organic fruit, 40-50 year old vines and 100% de-stemmed fruit. And as a special little bonus, we are including a light and fresh Chitry Bourgogne rouge from near Chablis made by the Giraudon family. Unbelievable for $19.99/bottle!

Domaine Parent Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2020 750ml

The Parent sisters are serious growers whose estate has been certified organic by Ecocert since 2003 vintage. Located in Pommard, in the heart of Côte d'Or, the domaine is run by Anne Parent and Catherine Fages-Parent, representing the 12th generation, and perpetuating a family tradition dating back to the 17th century. For years, the best growers in the Côte d’Or asked to have a specific classification for Bourgogne Cote d’Or created to signify the quality. This request was made law in 2018, hence the new label and name designation on this bottling. Domaine Parent was a big supporter of this decision as this Bourgogne is exclusively sourced from the villages of Pommard and Volnay. Sourced from two parcels, exclusively domaine fruit. 40 to 50 year old vines.100% destemmed with no new oak used.

Marcel Giraudon Bourgogne Chitry Rouge 2022 750ml

bot 93

RATED 93 BOTTLESHOP.COM : 'Fleshy, pure, smooth and just so delicious! Lovely red fruits like raspberries, cherries and plums, red rose petals, hints of vanilla, zero herbal nor green notes (often found in 'bargain' Pinots)... this is so incredible in this pricepoint. Not that surprising considering the pedigree and history of the family who makes it, but still a surprise in the best way! We love the mouthwatering minerals dancing on the finish as well. What a great seafood red!'

Chitry-Le-Fort, as the name suggests, was once a fortified town and in the Middle Ages the main road, La Grande Rue, formed the boundary between the lands of the Count of Tonnerre in Champagne and the Count of Auxerre in Burgundy. In the 19th century wines of Chitry were sold under the name of Chablis and more recently in 1929 the wines were accorded the name of Bourgogne des Environs de Chablis. Today Chitry is one of four viticultural communes of the Auxerrois and wines are labeled as Bourgogne or Bourgogne Chitry.
