Giacomo Fenocchio Barolo Cannubi 2013

SKU 01078

Five generations of Fenocchios have been producing wine from their holdings in the heart of the Bussia in Monforte d’Alba since 1894. Most of the production was sold locally up until 1964, when the ambitious and energetic Giacomo Fenocchio took over for the estate. His goal was to make the finest wines in all of Barolo, so he purchased prime parcels in some of the best crus in the Langhe – including Villero in Castiglione Falletto and Cannubi. Obviously we taste a lot of wine here at the Bottle it takes something really special to stand out in the crowd and this wine did just that! Cannubi is renowned for gorgeous Barolo wines with luxury pricetags. This classic example of the vineyard is rich yet suave and silky, beautifully aromatic, and just what we want in Barolo at an extremely reasonable price.

Wine EnthusiastRose, blue flower, perfumed berry and mint aromas set the tone on this vibrant red. Elegant and linear, the luminous palate delivers cherry, pomegranate, white pepper and clove. Firm refined tannins provide structure and poise. It's youthfully austere but already balanced, with bright acidity. Drink 2023-2038.

Wine AdvocateHere's a wine of depth and intensity. The 2013 Barolo Cannubi starts relatively slowly with mounting aromas of forest berry, crushed mineral and savory tobacco. It reaches full regime after a few moments in the glass and shows pretty aromatic layering all the while. The finish is dry and firm, although the tannins are already well integrated within the flesh of the wine. Only 3,500 bottles were produced.
