Made of 100% handpicked Syrah in the northern commune of Hermitage, this full-bodied red is made from three great terroir's: L'Ermite, Le Sabot, and the famed plot, Les Bessards. Founded in 1835, the Rhone Valley firm of Delas has experienced a resurgence of quality since 1996 when a new team was put in place including managing director Fabrice Rosset and winemaker Jacques Grange. 'Under the inspired leadership of winemaker/administrator Jacques Grange, who has carte blanche authority from the proprietors, the Louis Roederer/Deutz Champagne firm, Delas has been on a fabulous qualitative roll for over a decade. The top single vineyard wines are world class in every sense, often flirting with perfection. Moreover, readers should realize this is also an impressive source for value. The Delas firm owns 25 acres in Hermitage from which they make a cuvee, called Domaine des Tourettes.' Robert Parker
Wine AdvocateThe superb 2011 Hermitage Domaine des Tourettes boasts a dense purple color as well as abundant aromas of creme de cassis, licorice, forest floor and pepper, a meaty, viscous texture, sweet tannin and loads of fruit presented in a well-balanced, pure, full-bodied style. It should be reasonably drinkable in 3-4 years and last for 20-25.
