The Drouhin family has been making fine Burgundy since 1880. Puligny Montrachet has become one of the white wines that they are most famous for. The central part of the Côte de Beaune produces outstanding white wines, and Puligny-Montrachet is one of its most glorious examples. The clay and chalky soil, which is very stony, has good drainage and warms the vines well. The Chardonnay grape is planted exclusively in Puligny Montrachet. At the time of harvest, usually around mid-September, the grapes are hand-picked in small crates, then brought to the winery in Beaune. The grapes are gently pressed. The juice settles down for few hours before going into oak barrels. Once the alcoholic and malolactic fermentations are completed, the wine is racked off its lees. Aged in oak barrels for 9-10 months, this is the perfect companion for shellfish, dover sole and halibut dishes.

'Our Puligny Montrachet is a wine of great finesse and elegance. The color is pure and bright, with light glints of white gold. The aromas evoke trees in bloom and white flesh fruit, like white peaches. With age, the aromas evolve towards almond and lightly grilled dried fruit. On the palate, there is a sensation of fresh silkiness. Long and persistent in the aftertaste, ending on an exceptional wealth of flavors, both floral and fruity.' - Véronique Boss-Drouhin

Bottle ShopThe fragrant nose on this 2015 opens immediately with a beautiful combination of orange zest, stone fruits and vanilla. The palate is medium-full-bodied with concentrated citrus, white peach and mineral notes and a kiss of oak on the finish. A very impressive Puligny from a family known for crafting excellent Puligny Montrachet wines year in and year out.

BurghoundHere too there is a hint of residual sulfur sitting atop the well-layered nose of apple, pear, floral and discreet spice nuances. The seductively textured flavors are blessed with an abundance of mouth coating dry extract that buffers the vibrant acidity on the more complex and persistent finish. This is an excellent Puligny villages.

Wine SpectatorBroad and fleshy, with good cut defining the peach, lemon and pastry flavors. Turns more linear on the finish, showing good balance and a mouthwatering impression. Drink now through 2024.
