Domaine Faiveley Mercurey Blanc Clos Rochette 2015

SKU 01738

This lovely white Burgundy is made by the Faiveley family from their monopole vineyard, Clos Rochette, in the town of Mercurey. In 1825, Pierre Faiveley founded the firm and today the family is one of the largest owners of classified vineyards in the Cote de Nuits, Cote de Beaune and Cote Chalonnaise. We met Erwan Faiveley in New York earlier this year and were impressed with his family's dedication to continuing to improve the quality and complexity of the firm's wines.

Clos Rochette is a 11 acre monopole of Domaine Faiveley located in the heart of the Mercurey appellation. This is an extremely rocky vineyard with soils of clay, limestone and gravel. Vines date back to 1960, and the youngest vines were planted in 1999. Grapes are hand harvested, sorted and pressed on site in Mercurey. Following vinification the young wines are brought to the domaine cellars in Nuits-St-Georges for aging. To preserve freshness only a small portion of the wine is aged in oak, with the majority staying in stainless steel for the 10-12 month aging period.

James SucklingVery pretty and lively with stones and minerals. Dried apples and lemon zest. Medium to full body, beautiful density and intense flavors. Hints of lime on the finish. Some salt to boot. A monopole white from Cte de Chalonnaise.
