Chateau Suduiraut, one of Sauternes' leading estates, is owned by the AXA company, which also owns the illustrious Pichon Baron in Pauillac. In addition to a world classic Sauternes dessert wine, the estate also makes this crisp, dry white made of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon. Made in extrememly small quantities, about 500 cases per year, 'S de Suduiraut' showcases the complexity of the area's two white grape varieties when made into a dry white.The blend is Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon. The Semillon gives the wine an exotic, honeyed note layered into the crisp, vibrant lemon citrus and green melon character of the Sauvignon Blanc. Serve with fresh seafood dishes, including white fishes and shellfish; pair with goat's milk cheeses, especially accented by fig or honey compotes; or enjoy as an extraordinary aperitif on its own.
Vinous(63% sauvignon blanc and 37% semillon; 20% new oak): Bright straw. Nose dominated by white stone fruit, chamomile, gooseberry, quince and grilled nuts. Then rich and round in the mouth, with soft acidity framing the sweet nut and white peach flavors. Finishes seamless and persistent, with lingering green fig, gooseberry and herbal flavors.
