Zenith is St. Innocent's estate vineyard. It is centrally located in the Eola-Amity Hills AVA 8 miles NW of Salem, Oregon. Grapes for this wine come from 9 blocks. Most of the blocks face SE, warming early in the morning. One faces SW and is warmer in the afternoon. Four different clones of Pinot noir are planted and all of the blocks lie on old sedimentary soil at an elevation of 300'. De-stemmed grapes are fermented in small stainless and Burgundy oak fermenters with no SO2, allowing the fermentations to proceed naturally. After gentle pressing and settling, the wine aged in French oak barrels, 29% of which were new, for 16 months before bottling by gravity and without fining.

International Wine CellarSexy mineral- and smoke-laced black raspberry, cherry and rose pastille scents show excellent clarity and a hint of cola. Sweet, incisive red and dark berry flavors put on weight with air and are complemented by suggestions of spicecake and anise. Spreads out and stains the palate on the gently tannic finish, with the floral and spice notes echoing.

Wine AdvocateThe 2012 Pinot Noir Zenith Vineyard is apparently Mark Vlossak's favorite wine that he has ever made from the vineyard. It has a touch of patisserie infusing the red cherry and crushed strawberry-scented bouquet that is very generous, wilted violet petals joining the fray with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with a soft entry, rounded in texture with red cherries and lush strawberry flavors and a caressing finish with a healthy dash of white pepper on the aftertaste.
