Domaine Rene et Vincent Dauvissat Chablis Les Clos 2013

SKU 01482

Vincent Dauvissat is one of Chablis' most prestigious and sought-after estates. He farms nearly 23 acres of meticulously kept vineyards, all in Premier Cru appellations. These vines are splendidly sited on hillsides underlain by Jurassic limestone which give the wines incredible terroir. Yields are low, all picking is done by hand and the wines are known to age for decades. A loyal following among France's most esteemed restaurateurs sharply limits the availability of Dauvissat wines for export so we were happy to acquire small quantities of the 2013s. This Grand Cru is made from 7 different parcels in the Les Clos vineyard with 48 year old vines that total 1.7 hectares.

"This talented winemaker makes it look almost too easy, routinely turning out intensely flavored, incisive wines that manage to be both accurate to their terroir and long on personality. While the wines can be austere in their youth, they have a track record of aging superbly." Stephen Tanzer on Vincent Dauvissat, International Wine Cellar

BurghoundThere is a barely discernible touch of wood framing the green apple, lemon peel, floral, iodine and oyster shell nuances. The intense, powerful and sleekly muscular big-bodied flavors possess excellent volume and concentration before terminating in an explosively long, clean and very dry though again not really austere finish. While the Les Clos is often Dauvissat's best wine in 2013 the Preuses appears to have a very slight edge, at least at this early juncture. 91-94
