"This talented winemaker makes it look almost too easy, routinely turning out intensely flavored, incisive wines that manage to be both accurate to their terroir and long on personality. While the wines can be austere in their youth, they have a track record of aging superbly." Stephen Tanzer on Vincent Dauvissat, International Wine Cellar

Vincent Dauvissat is one of Chablis' most prestigious and sought-after estates. He farms nearly 23 acres of meticulously kept vineyards, all in Premier Cru appellations. These vines are splendidly sited on hillsides underlain by Jurassic limestone which give the wines incredible terroir. Yields are low, all picking is done by hand and the wines are known to age for decades. A loyal following among France's most esteemed restaurateurs sharply limits the availability of Dauvissat wines for export so we were happy to acquire small quantities of the 2013s. Most growers declare Le Forest as the Premier Cru Montmains.

BurghoundThis is much more expressive and with an abundance of Chablis character with its notes of iodine, algae, citrus and much more discreet nuances of mineral reduction. The silky yet entirely serious medium-bodied flavors exhibit plenty of minerality on the citrusy and hugely long finish that is clean, dry, long and balanced. This highly impressive effort should reward up to a decade of cellar time. 90-93

Wine AdvocateThe 2013 Chablis 1er Cru la Forest has a languid sense of harmony on the nose with hints of marmalade bubbling through. The palate is very refined and natural with well-judged acidity and a brisk spicy finish that should give great pleasure once in bottles. Just a couple of old bottles to finish with, testament to the aging ability of Vincent Dauvissat's wines.
