Newton Unfiltered Chardonnay 2014

SKU 01200

'Newton Unfiltered Chardonnay is consistently one of California's finest, longest-lived Chardonnays. And all of the wines from their beautiful mountain vineyard are among the most naturally made in the world.' raves Robert Parker Newton Vineyard was one of the first wineries on Spring Mountain, a rugged yet serene appellation located west of St. Helena on the eastern flank of the Mayacamas range which separates Napa and Sonoma Valleys. Newton Vineyard was established in 1977 by Dr. Su Hua and Peter Newton, who recognized the potential of Spring Mountain as a prime viticultural region. Respect for nature is reflected in all aspects of Newton Vineyard, from the terraced vineyards and organic winery design to the meticulous winemaking practice. This is made with full malolactic fermentation and bottle unfiltered with minimal manipulation. Look for a rich, leesy, ripe and dense style with nectarine, brioche, orange and honey-suckle complexities. This is a rare California Chardonnay in that it has the capacity in good vintages to evolve for 8-10 years.

Wine AdvocateNewton's unfiltered Chardonnay has been a consistent winner since it was first launched in the early 1980s, when the fruit was coming from what is today John Kongsgaard's Judge cuvée. Newton is still making this wine unfiltered, and the 2014 Chardonnay Unfiltered is rich and displays beautiful white peach, honeysuckle and tropical fruit, some nice, crisp wet pebble minerality in the background and a full-bodied mouthfeel. Deep, layered and complete, this is a big-time winner.
