Dating back to 1715, Quinta do Noval is one of the oldest and best wine estates in Portugal, and today is a flagship estate of the AXA company. Known for the highest quality of fortified Port wine as well as dry reds in recent years, Quinta do Noval is a benchmark producer of Port wine from vintage ruby ports to aged tawny ports as well as 'everyday' ruby character ports. A 'Colheita' which we have here, is a rare aged tawny port made from a single vintage. And in fact, the Colheita at Noval are even more rare, as they are all made from 100% estate grown grapes, trodden by foot and fermented in the lagares at the Quinta, and only bottled upon order. Extraordinarily special, the wines spend their entire lives in old oak barrels until the moment of bottling, which takes place only when an order is received. Look for a beautiful pale, tawny color. It has an attractive, intense and mature bouquet, characteristic of tawnies this age, reminiscent of dry fruits. Sweet and complex on the palate, Quinta do Noval’s Colheita show an elegant structure, and are harmonious, with a persistent finish.

Wine EnthusiastA single vintage tawny, this is gorgeously nutty with dried fig and raisin flavors while keeping plenty of freshness and orange zest flavors. The wine is rich, full in the mouth, intense, hinting at the wood in which it was aged and bringing in spice and pepper as well as more aromatic fruits. Like all tawnies, it is ready to drink.

Wine AdvocateThe 2000 Colheita Port is a Tawny bottled in 2015. This young Tawny is gorgeous and punches just a bit above its weight. Showing more complexity than many at this age, it has fine concentration of flavor on the finish. There's enough acidity to pound in that flavor and it finishes with some intensity, too. This is very tasty and a lovely new release whose flavor will make you drool.

Wine SpectatorOffers maple, butterscotch and ripe cherry flavors, with plenty of dried citrus and nutmeg notes. Seductively smoky, presenting a long finish of dried apricot and fig compote. Suave and supple. Drink now through 2020. 120 cases imported.
