Acacia Lake Vineyard Pinot Noir 2013
Located in Los Carneros in Napa Valley, Winery Lake Vineyard has soils composed of volcanic rock, from the Mayacamas Mountains, and fossilized seashells, creating the unique minerality in this great Pinot. Allen Meadows of Burghound reports this is ‘notably ripe with aromas of dark berries, clove, sandalwood and anise with a sense of freshness and vibrancy on the delicious, supple and caressing medium weight palate. The well-balanced finish adds a sense of punch.’ Serve with rotisserie chicken, baked ham and more.
Headed by general partner Mike Richmond and winemaker Larry Brooks, Acacia debuted in 1979 and was one of the first California wineries to offer vineyard-designate Pinot Noir. Fruit was sourced locally from Carneros growers until the mid-1990s, when Acacia began acquiring properties surrounding the winery. Today these holdings comprise the 150-acre estate that produces Acacia Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
Wine EnthusiastThere's no doubt this estate-grown wine is at first funky on the nose, a mix of forest, mint and farmhouse cheese. It develops in the glass to embrace its quirks, complementing them with vibrant acidity, ripe texture, and hints of orange, rhubarb and spicy clove.
