The Delaby family in Burgundy produces beautiful, terroir-driven wines, and a wonderful range of vineyard designates. This wine is made from a plot in Meursault located on the north on the border of Volnay, which was historically planted to Pinot Noir. For the family, this has been a flagship appellation of the domaine for 25 years for producing glorious white wine. After a manual harvest, the grapes are pressed in full bunches. The juices, once settled, are interspersed in oak barrels and go through malolactic fermentation with natural yeasts. The estate's French oak barrels are renewed to 20% each year. After 12 months of aging, the wine is racked and will finish in stainless steel tank for 6 months more. and then be filtered before bottling.
Look for white and yellow fruit aromas, white peaches and stones... the palate follows in a sensual way, both concentrated and elegant. The wine is round yet fresh fruit prevails on the finish. This is a Meursault with complete charm and balance. We have been big fans of Genot-Boulanger's Clos de Cromin for more than 10 years. Look for ripe peach, pear and citrus fruit along with mineral and white stone complexities. Genot-Boulanger is farmed with organic methods.
