Owner/winemaker Jim Clendenen has been one of the most well-known Californian Pinot Noir fanatics since the late 1970's. He graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara, with High Honors in Pre-Law in 1976. It was during his junior year abroad in 1974, while turning 21 in France, that he discovered life beyond tacos. After graduation, a one month stay in both Burgundy and Champagne convinced him to attempt a career in wine rather than continue on to law school. And as they say, the rest is history!

Au Bon Climat has been making Pinot Noir from Santa Barbara County grapes since 1982, twenty-two years before the movie 'Sideways' made Pinot Noir a must-buy. Look for tons of berries in this Santa Barbara Pinot. Strawberries and raspberries aromas lead to anise and clove aromas. This has nuance, elegance and intensity. Au Bon Climat aims to make a 'food wine'. From spicy Indian dishes to a good turkey sandwich, this is a great Pinot.
