Cesari is one of the most respected and traditional producers of Amarone in Italy's Veneto region. With 100 hectares of estate-owned hillside vineyards, Cesari takes the time to produce Amarone with the age-old method of drying the grapes on racks for 120 days and then aging the wine in large Slavonian oak barrels and French barriques for three years followed by six months in bottle before release. The blend is made from 100% hand-harvested, indigenous grapes: typically 80% Corvina and 20% Rondinella. Look for cherry, dried plum, toast and hints of spices with smooth tannins and a long, warm finish. It is an excellent partner to game, grilled and stewed meats, but is also great with cheeses and nuts after dinner.

Wine EnthusiastAromas of scorched earth, underbrush, chopped herb and dark spice lead the way on this full-boded wine. The firm, hearty palate offers dried dark cherry, raisin, clove, anise and tobacco framed in solid, fine-grained tannins.
