Domaine Robert Chevillon is owned and managed by 4th generation vignerons Denis and Bertrand Chevillon, sons of Robert. The family has been producing wine in Nuits-St.-George since the early 1900's. Today the domaine covers an area of 13 hectares of vines, mostly red Premier Crus (8) and Guyot pruning is used to maintain the maximum concentration and healthy berries. The final result is a range of structured, fruity, elegant, fine and complex wines, produced with the capacity for aging. The Les Cailles is made from a 1.12 ha parcel of 75+ year old vines.
Burghound reports: "Bertrand Chevillon called the 2009 a vintage that created 'very powerful, ripe and concentrated wines. We picked from September 11-17th under perfect harvest conditions. Yields were generous yet by no means excessive and the wines possess plenty of dry extract. The vinification was straightforward and the malos were normal so it was one of those rare vintages where there was no stress from start to finish. As to the wines, 2009 reminds me of 2005 or 1999.' Readers should know that the 2009 vintage produced, in several cases, the best examples that I have ever seen from cask at chez Chevillon, which is saying something given how many great wines I have reviewed at this address."

BurghoundReduction makes the nose impossible to fairly evaluate. However the serious, brooding and powerful medium weight plus flavors possess buckets of extract that confer a seductive and velvety mouth feel to the driving, palate staining and explosively long finish. This is another extraordinary vintage for this wine in a long line of them. 92-94
Wine AdvocateThe 2009 Nuits St. Georges Les Cailles bursts from the glass with an exciting melange of smoky dark fruit, new leather, tar and licorice. It is another implosive, young wine that will require considerable patience. The energy and verve both bode well for the future. Exotic spices and dark fruit emerge even more fully as the wine fleshes out on the finish. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2039.
