At Flowers, Pinot Noir is partially de-stemmed to provide a 75% whole-berry environment in our small open-top fermenters. Pinot Noir is cold-soaked for five to seven days at a temperature of 45° F and the hand-punching-down begins. After the cold-soak period, the fermenter is warmed to 68 °F to 85 °F and wild yeast carries the fermentation to showcase the terroir and complexity. Once fermentation is complete the wines are left in contact with the skins for 10-15 days to further enhance flavor and color development. Free-run wines are drained using natural gravity flow to French oak barrels and the remaining skins are gently pressed in a small traditional basket press. All wines are aged between 14-16 months in small French oak barrels from Burgundian Coopers. The Flowers' philosophy is to retain all of the natural vineyard elements while hand-crafting Pinot Noir. This ensures the true expression of their unique vineyard sites when the wines are enjoyed.

The 2023 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast is a medium ruby color and is fresh on the nose with notes of lifted spice, compact red berries, Bing cherries, roses, and sweet herbs. The palate is medium-bodied, with a polished and fine texture, a silky feel, and clean elegance through the finish. It’s a lovely and charming Pinot Noir with a lot of finesse to drink over the coming 8-10 years.

Aromas of sweet berries, cherry liqueur and cola dominate the nose of this Pinot, while the palate is loaded with cedar cigar box, coffee and maraschino cherry. The combination of freshness and grip feels very alluring, but it might need a few years to round into form. Drink 2028–2035.

This has nice tension and tannic framing. Full-bodied, firm and lightly chewy with freshness, and spicy character to the ripe strawberry and cherry on the finish.

The 2023 Pinot Noir (Sonoma Coast) is another terrific wine from Flowers. Bright, aromatic and lifted, it offers up an exotic mélange of crushed red berry fruit, cedar, cinnamon, pipe tobacco and dried herbs. Strong floral and savory inflections lend energy throughout. The 2023 is light on its feet and quite delicate, not to mention long on personality.

Delicious, fresh, and savoury, this juicy Pinot Noir from the Sonoma Coast has violet and smoky flint aromatics buoyed by fresh red berries and a kiss of fresh mint. The palate is reflective, with flinty minerality coming to the fore. Pine sap, notes of fresh evergreen and lovely red fruits, clove and white peppery spice to finish.

The 2023 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast was matured for 10 months in 20% new French oak. Cranberry and blackberry aromas pour from the glass, accented by wafts of saline, aniseed and Earl Grey tea leaves. The medium-bodied palate is bursting with bitters- and citrus-laced flavors. It’s structured by silky tannins and bight acidity and has a long, expressive finish. 34,600 cases produced.
