Peter Michael Le Caprice Pinot Noir 2016
'Peter Michael is an impeccably run, world-class winery, and there's nothing that the Peter Michael winery does that is not admirable. Consider that they work with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon as well as Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, they produce world-class wines from all of these varietals, and they do it from Knight's Valley and the Sonoma Coast. Of course, they have had some fabulous winemakers pass through, including the likes of Helen Turley and Mark Aubert, Luc Morlet and now his brother, Nicolas Morlet. Nevertheless, much of the credit has to go to Sir Peter Michael, the owner, who gives these people carte blanche, and expects their very best.' Robert M. Parker Jr.
Wine AdvocateMedium to deep ruby-purple colored, the 2016 Pinot Noir le Caprice has a gorgeous perfume of red roses, lavender and black cherries with nuances of raspberry leaves, dried herbs, cinnamon stick and mossy bark. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has great intensity with plenty of cherry and spicy layers supported by seamless acid and firm, fine tannins, finishing with lingering savory and anise notes. To be bottled in February 2018; 940 cases are expected.
