Bogle Phantom 2014
Phantom, Bogle’s mysterious apparition of ripe berry and relentless spice, returns to haunt wine lovers. Full of concentration and intensity, this wine will tease, tantalize and linger long after the last sip is gone. The 2014 is a blend of 42% Petite Sirah, 34% Old Vine Zinfandel, 14% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot, yet every vintage is slightly different depending on the character of each individual grape at harvest. The grapes for the Phantom are generally sourced from Clarksburg, Lodi and Amador, and the wine is aged for 24 months in 1 & 2 year-old American oak. This popular wine has lush berry and big spice flavors in a full-bodied style. Wild berries, black pepper and hints of cloves are framed by the influence of oak aging with baking spices and a hint of toasty vanilla, as well as blueberries, violets, toasted coconut and chocolate-covered cherries, dusted with touches of black pepper. Serve with full-flavored, hearty meals, especially stews, peppered steaks and ribs.
