#5 Wine Value of the Year 2022 Wine Spectator
Napa native Joel Gott is a third generation winemaker. His grandfather was winemaker and president of Inglenook in the 1960s and 1970s, and his father, Cary Gott, was the founder of Montevina and continues to consult for wineries such as D.R. Stephens. Known for his blending skills, Joel Gott crafts remarkable values with tons of classic California fruit, good structure and excellent balance.
His Sauvignon Blanc is from fruit grown in the marine-influenced Monterey region, where moderate temperatures create a slow-ripening process and nicely complex flavors. Joel's favorite vineyard in Monterey grows the Sauvignon Musque clone of Sauvignon Blanc which has rich tropical and floral aromas. These characteristics combined with the citrus notes prevalent in Lake County fruit and minerality from Russian River fruit make for a refreshing, food-friendly blend. To preserve the wine’s fruit and acidity, it is fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks, five percent of which are smaller stainless steel drums that give the wine added texture and roundness from sur lie aging.

Lemon blossom, Asian pear, lime sherbet and candied orange peel notes are pure, fragrant and juicy in this silky white, with intensity and a lift of freshness on the finish from an accent of lemon verbena. Drink now.
