Sonoma County mountain and hillside vineyards add black cherry flavors and structure. Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are blended with Merlot for softness, Cabernet Franc for tannins, Malbec for a hint of chocolate and complexity, and Petit Verdot to enhance the mouthfeel. Over 150,000 cases are made of this wine coming from owner Jess Jackson's vineyards. His company, Jackson Family Wines, includes 35 different brands that produce 5 million cases annually.
