Since the inaugural vintage of Decoy Napa Valley red more than 20 years ago, Decoy has taken an important place in the Duckhorn Wine Company. With a reputation for delivering great quality at a reasonable price, Decoy has established a loyal following for its distinctive style, which emphasizes ready-upon-release wines that express their full charm and complexity in youth. Decoy California Merlot is a lush and inviting wine highlighting the elegance of the Merlot variety. Lovely aromas of strawberry compote, plum and cherry wood are supported by hints of clove and cinnamon from the well-integrated oak. The red fruit continues on the palate, with layers of fresh strawberry and raspberry. Decoy Merlot is made of mostly Merlot, then typically with smaller percentages of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc in the final blend.

This wine is rich, with aromas of dark cherry, red currant confiture, clove, dried flowers and dried bay leaf on the nose. The flavors on the palate are blackberry coulis, dark plum and black tea, interlaced with cocoa nib, vanilla cream and a dry, silky finish. Pair with grilled ahi tuna steak.
