One Point Five takes its name from the term 'a generation and a half', coined by John and Doug Shafer to describe their long father-and-son partnership. For 28 years this family team has worked side by side to manage their Stags Leap District winery with much success and admiration. The One Point Five is typically made of about 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, with Petite Verdot and Malbec and spends 18-20 months in 100% new French oak barrels. Shafer recommends pairing this beauty with everything from Ahi tuna to roast lamb loin to fine cheeses.

'Celebrating 30 years of consistent quality and both critical and commercial success, this family run winery remains one of the most admirable operations in California. Shafer routinely fashions exceptional wines from their Stags Leap vineyards. Moreover, they have long been the reference point for what can be achieved in Stags Leap. My highest compliments to this great winery.' Robert Parker Wine Advocate

Wine EnthusiastThe name signifying a generation and a half of Shafers (Doug and his late father, John), this is a powerfully built, robust and rounded wine. Sage and violet aromas lead to a strong, sturdy core of tannin, oak and muscle, developed with sweet tobacco, cassis and cola.

Wine SpectatorThis offers fruit in spades, delivering a lush, seductive profile of blueberry, açaí and cassis notes infused with mocha and sweet tobacco accents, ending with a melted licorice feel. Rich, polished and long. Drink now through 2030. 9,000 cases made.

Jeb DunnuckCut from the same cloth, yet with a touch of rusticity in its tannins, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon One Point Five offers a full-bodied, rounded, structured style as well as loads of sweet red and black fruits, toasted spice, and herbed de Provence like notes. It's a powerful, concentrated wine, has loads of fruit, and is going to benefit from 3-4 years of bottle age.

VinousThe 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon One Point Five is dense, plush and creamy. Super-ripe dark cherry, cloves, menthol, licorice and earthy notes give the 2017 a distinctly dark, exotic feel. Plush and generous on the palate with sweet, silky tannins, the 2017 is a big wine that will drink well right out of the gate. I wouldn't push my luck on aging here, though.

Wine AdvocateMade up of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petit Verdot, 3% Malbec and 2% Merlot, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon One Point Five is deep garnet-purple colored with pronounced crème de cassis, blackberry pie and black forest cake notes with waft of bay leaves, cigar box, tar and smoked meats. The palate is full-bodied, firm and chewy with a taut, muscular mid-palate and an herb-lifted finish.
