The Pride family owns and actively manages Pride winery and vineyards. They strive to create a work environment in which excellence, honesty, and fun spontaneously flourish. Typically blended with 10% Cabernet Sauvignon to provide framing for this 'gentle giant', Pirde Merlot has flavors and aromas of currant and cassis, spicy mocha, and vanilla bean. The palate is coated with sweet and chewy tannins that melt into a long finish. 'This brilliant estate, whose vineyards straddle the Napa/Sonoma county line at the top of Spring Mountain, continues to turn out a bevy of exciting wines that first made headlines when Bob Foley was the winemaker. The transition from Foley to the current winemaker, Sally Johnson, has gone flawlessly.' Robert Parker

Wine AdvocateThis year, the 2010 Merlot is the most fragrant and lightest of the entry-level wines at Pride. Sweet red cherries, dried flowers, tobacco and spices all waft from the glass of this delicate, fragrant wine, which is best suited for near and mid-term drinking. The 2010 Merlot is 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2025.
