The grapes for Ferrari-Carano's Reserve Chardonnay come primarily from a single vineyard in Napa Valley's Carneros region. Comprised of four Chardonnay clones, this wine displays aromas of hazelnut, spice, ripe apple, orange blossom, fig and butter with elegant, upfront flavors of sweet pear, lemon and a lingering, toasted oak finish. The cooler climate of Carneros imparts delicacy and finesse to the wine, while the Alexander Valley component adds an intensely rich mouth-filling character. Aged in 44% new French oak and 56% older French oak, this has a lovely balance of oak, fruit and acidity.

Closed at first, this full-bodied wine holds onto its Bosc pear, ginger and lightly toasted oak flavors rather tightly until further sipping and savoring brings them out. The wine is a great candidate for aging since it has the good acidity and inherent concentration to develop more interest over time. Best from 2026-2030.
