Bertani has been making wines in Verona for 150 years and is considered to be a premier producer of classic Amarone wines. Typically made of 70% Corvina, 25% Rondinella and 5% Molinara grapes, the region's indigenous grapes, Bertani Amarone is rich and savory. Look for generous aromas of freshly picked cherries mingled with notes of dried cherries, macerated plums, vanilla and hints of spice. Dry, full bodied and amply structured. Cherries, red berries and a hint of vanilla lead into a dazzling finish that recalls walnuts and hazelnuts.

Wine AdvocateThe 2007 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is an impressive wine built to last. Bertani does a great job of presenting the purity of the wine's fruit, its territory and its tradition. The Amarone is not overbuilt or too muscular. Instead, it walks with small, poised footsteps that carry it long and wide. The bouquet shows classic notes of dried fruit, toasted almond, resin, cola and grilled herb. I would not suggest serving this bottle for at least 24 months. 94+

Wine EnthusiastUnderbrush, crushed blue flower, fig, charred earth and ripe black cherry aromas come together on this full-bodied red. The brooding, muscular palate delivers blackberry jam, raisin, licorice and tobacco while tightly knit, ripe tannins provide support. Drink after 2017.

Wine SpectatorAn elegant version, finely knitting supple tannins and a rich vein of tarry minerality with flavors of dried cherry and fig fruit, dried marjoram, hot stone and bergamot. Offers a lingering, spiced finish. Drink now through 2027.
