Made by Argiano, a top Brunello di Montalcino producer, Non-Confunditur is a blend of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Sangiovese, 20% Merlot and 20% Syrah. Year in and year out, this is one of Italy's most exciting Super Tuscans at a reasonable price. In the 2009 vintage, Non-Confunditur was eva Top 100 Wine of the Year. Look for rich aromas of red berries and smoky oak, with full-bodied flavors on the palate of ripe raspberries, cinnamon, spices and plums. The inherent sweetness of the Merlot acts as a bridge between the firm earthiness of the Sangiovese grape, the spicy blackcurrant of the Cabernet and the warm red fruit of the Syrah. Pair with rich pasta courses, grilled meats, and mushroom-based sauces. Non-Confunditur is a Latin term meaning 'do not be mistaken'-the motto of the Lovatelli family. This wine is not to be mistaken for any of Argiano's other wines which exclusively use either Tuscan or French varietals.
Wine SpectatorWild rosemary, thyme and tar flavors shade the black cherry and strawberry notes in this firm red, which is sinewy, with mouthcoating tannins on the dusty finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese, Merlot and Syrah. Best from 2018 through 2024.
