Giacomo Damilano developed with his children a love and passion for vineyards, and in 1997, Giacomo’s grandchildren, began to manage the winery with this same excitement and enthusiasm. Paolo, Mario and Guido Damilano, the third generation, have brought new vigor to the family business while upholding Damilano’s historic philosophy that high quality wines can only come from high quality grapes. With the assistance of agronomist Giampiero Romana and enologist Beppe Caviola, Damilano continues to express each vintage of Piedmont.

Ambassadors of Barolo, the Damilano family owns 73 hectares including important holdings in arguably the three most celebrated crus of Barolo/La Morra: Brunate, Cerequio and Cannubi. This Nebbiolo was tasted and loved by our staff, we found bright black fruit and rose floral flavors with supple tannins, licorice and earth undertones. Serve with a grilled steak or with your favorite Italian fare, such as pasta in meat sauce or marinara. The Nebbiolo grape is the same grape used to make Barolo, and this offering is estate bottled by a very good Barolo producer.

Wine Advocate reports: '
Damilano has been a Barolo protagonist for many years. Even if you are already familiar with its wines, this estate merits a longer look. I have been impressed by the work underway here and notice tangible tweaks to the winemaking style that represent a constant stream of improvements building over the past five years or so. For example, the Damilano 2012 Barolo Cannubi stands out among its peers. This is a difficult feat considering the competitive nature of this super-celebrated single vineyard. Among so many excellent producers that farm here, Damiliano's Cannubi holds its own, especially in the challenging 2012 vintage. More interesting, however, is the special anniversary magnum of Cannubi from the 2008 vintage and bottled today as a limited-production Riserva. Congratulations.'

Wine AdvocateThe 2015 Langhe Nebbiolo Marghe offers a soft and fragrant expression of this beautiful grape from Piedmont. This informal wine opens to bright ruby-garnet color and shows lean-body appeal. The fruit is on the sweet side (or at least the sweet side of Nebbiolo) with cassis and dried raspberry. The tannins are absolutely integrated and this wine drinks perfectly right now. If you are new to Nebbiolo, this is an extremely likable wine. You really can't beat this excellent value. With 70,000 bottles made, buy this wine by the case. 91+
