Vidal + Vidal  Verdejo is made from a dry farmed vineyard where the family follows the moon for harvesting and has an infinite respect for nature. No pesticides nor fungicides are used and six generations have been making great wine here in the region of Rueda. 100% Verdejo from cepas muy viejas (very old vines), this is made from fruit grown in a single plot. Lively and precise on the nose, displaying scents of citrus fruits, honeysuckle, chalky minerals and saline. Dry and refreshing with citrus, stone and orchard fruit flavors, this has body while staying light on its feet. Finishes bright with wonderful minerality and resonating florality. It paired perfectly with fresh halibut, EVOO and lemon alongside steamed broccoli, carrots and rice at Mr.Shrimp! The importer suggests chickpeas, pork dishes, crayfish, peppercorn and garlic.

La Seca means 'the dry' in Spanish - it is both the name of a village and  the appellation of Rueda in Castilla y Leon. This is home to what many consider to be the best Verdejo-based wines in Spain. The vineyard Finca El Alto in La Seca is an ancient and arid, stone strewn river bed of 21 acres. The soil is sandy with fist sized alluvial stones. Vines grow at an elevation of 2300 feet in a continential climate. Yields are at these 80+ year old vineyards are kept very low, at only 3 kilograms per plant. Goblet trained vines are hand harvested in September in the early morning hours to ensure the grapes are kept cool from the moment of harvest to the time they are vinified. The name Vidal + Vidal has two meanings: Vidal is a family name with Catalán and possibly Sephardic roots shared by the producers and the importer of this wine, Vidal also means 'Life or to Live'.
