Crafted by winemaker Jules Taylor's winemaker husband, George Elworthy (hence the cheeky name:), Better Half wines are all accredited by the world-leading NZ Sustainable Winegrowers scheme, which requires them to minimize chemical inputs, water use and waste production. The wines are handled with minimal intervention in the winery and made with vegan-friendly methods.
Pale yellow color. Punchy aromas of passionfruit and citrus leap from the glass, along with notes of guava and fresh cut grass. Dry, juicy and intensely flavored on the palate, with bright citrus, stone fruit and a pop of guava. The finish is long, carried by vibrant, refreshing acidity and a dash of salinity. Enjoy al fresco with fresh shellfish with a squeeze of lime, or any kind of salad. For something more substantial, pair it with more robust Thai or Vietnamese flavored dishes.

Better Half Sauvignon Blanc was a real eye opener in our Fall tastings for new wines. Instead of being super sweet with tropical fruits and gooseberries, this Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand is zippy, fresh, clean and light with tangy grapefruit, sea spray, lemon, lime and mineral flavors. Begging to be paired with seafood or young goat’s milk cheeses, this is from a cooler area in southern Marlborough.
