Established in 1587, 3rd Growth Bordeaux La Lagune, one of the oldest estates in the Médoc, evolved from a village built around natural water sources into creating a prestigious vineyard. Over many centuries of grape growing, La Lagune has produced 100's of vintages of fine wine. Fast forward to early 2000, the Château La Lagune was purchased by the Frey Family, a quality-obsessed vintner.
Massive works were undertaken in the vineyard. The technical facilities were also remodelled: a new vat room was built and the cellar was enlarged. La Lagune was back in the limelight. Since 2004, enriched by Denis Dubourdieu’s teaching, Caroline Frey, the oenologist and winemaker, has been guiding the château’s destiny saying: La Lagune had enormous potential, but it was time to wake up the sleeping beauty.
This wine, Moulin du Château Lagune is the little brother of Château La Lagune, and stands out for its sheer deliciousness! The Moulin blend favors Merlot (50%). This contributes to making a wine that is very tasty from the very first years. Viticulture, vinification and aging are carried out with the same concern for perfection for the Moulin as for Château La Lagune. The Frey family's aim is to preserve as much as possible of the finesse, elegance and balance of La Lagune, so characteristic of its terroir, while seeking richness in the vineyard.

A rich red with plum and berry aromas and flavors with some walnuts. Medium body and creamy tannins. Hints of berries and leaves, as well as dark chocolate. Solid character. From organically grown grapes. Same owner as La Lagune.

Bright on the nose, the palate is dark and quite serious. No massive acidity nor brightness, but there is a lovely refinement to the fruit - it feels sculpted and poised, if not showy and bright. A linear style with a push from start to finish, then a strong menthol character pushings things on the tail.
