| Brand | Bertani |
| Origin | Italy, Veneto, Amarone della Valpolicella |
Bertani has been making wines in Verona for 150 years and is considered to be a premier producer of classic Amarone wines. Typically made of 70% Corvina, 25% Rondinella and 5% Molinara grapes, the region's indigenous grapes, Bertani Amarone is rich and savory. Look for generous aromas of freshly picked cherries mingled with notes of dried cherries, macerated plums, vanilla and hints of spice. Dry, full bodied and amply structured. Cherries, red berries and a hint of vanilla lead into a dazzling finish that recalls walnuts and hazelnuts.
Chosen as a Top Amarone Estate by Forbes.com : 'Bertani - If you could only use one word to describe the production of Amarone at Bertani, that word would be tradition. First produced in 1958, the Bertani Amarone from the Classica district is one of the icons of this area; rich on the palate with supple tannins and complex spice, this has always been one of the longest-lived examples of Amarone; I tasted the 1968 on visit to the winery in 2012 and was amazed at the wine’s freshness. Originally the wine was aged in very large casks of more than 100 hectoliters for twelve years! Today the wine is matured in 60-hectoliter Slavonian oak casks for seven years, much longer than the minimum requirement. If you are seeking what class and breeding are with Amarone, look no further than Bertani.'
Intense red color with hints of garnet. On the nose, typical notes of plum, cherry and Morello cherry followed by tea leaves, licorice and spices. On the palate, notes of red berry fruit sweetened by soft notes of spices, in perfect balance with acidity. It can be paired with red meat, game and mature cheese, but is also perfect at the end of a meal or as a meditation wine.

This wine is pure in its fruit, earnestness and joy. It opens with aromas of vibrant red plum, macerated red cherries and raspberries followed by cocoa powder, oolong tea and dried violets. Each sniff of the glass brings a new aroma. The wine is earth-driven on the palate, with tobacco and dried red and black fruits blending well with mixed herbs, savory spices and elegant tannins, all leading to a fresh acidity that makes the wine pop on the finish. Drink now-2040.

An elegant version, fresh and medium- to full-bodied, with crisp definition from fine-grained tannins, a rich, minerally baseline of fresh earth and iron, and a pleasing range of plumped cherry, raspberry paste, Earl Grey tea leaf and sandalwood notes that linger on the finish. Corvina and Rondinella. Drink now through 2032. 7,083 cases made, 2,000 cases imported.

The 2012 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico takes its time opening in the glass, slowly evolving with a rich blend of crushed black cherries complemented by dusty violet florals and exotic spice. This coasts across the palate, silky-smooth yet with cooling minerality and brisk acids that add an energetic feel as a saturation of red fruits and fine tannins collect toward the close. The 2012 finishes lightly structured with a resonance of balsamic spice and bitter hints of cocoa that linger on and on-a fantastic and genuinely harmonious rendition of Bertani's Amarone Classico.
