At ALH, the Hobbs family embraces the harmony of balance as the philosophy that has guided them for generations and will lead them into the future. As a family owned and operated winery, ALH honors the vision Paul Hobbs established while welcoming the natural evolution that comes with Agustina’s fresh perspective. This father-daughter collaboration forms the heartbeat of ALH.
Coombsville is Napa Valley’s AVA on the rise. Tucked into the southeastern corner of Napa Valley at the base of the Vaca Mountains, Coombsville—officially designated as a Napa Valley appellation in 2011—is defined by its volcanic soils and marine air. Sourced exclusively from hand-harvested grapes from select blocks within the Nathan Coombs Estate, the debut vintage of ALH reflects a site of rare distinction.
Coombsville’s close proximity to San Pablo Bay results in cool marine breezes and lingering morning fog, which lower the daily temperatures by as much as 10 degrees during the growing season, as compared to up-valley sites. This unique microclimate creates ideal conditions for growing Cabernet Sauvignon.
The inaugural 2022 vintage is magenta-hued with a vibrant ruby rim, opening with ripe dark cherry, damp earth, and fresh violet. The palate reveals fine-grained tannins and refreshing acidity, unfolding layers of black raspberry, wild thyme, and dark cacao. Savory herbs add intrigue, leading to a long, graceful finish touched by graphite—a signature of southern Coombsville’s cool, volcanic soils.

This is the inaugural release of a brand-new wine from Agustina Hobbs, daughter of legendary winemaker Paul Hobbs. In the glass, the 2022 ALH Cabernet presents ripe red fruit layered with baking spices, accompanied by bursts of mulberry and fresh raspberry, all framed by exceptionally fine tannins and bright acidity. It opens in the glass, gaining volume and generosity, revealing classic Coombsville savoury notes of sagebrush and thyme, intertwined with purple florals. The vibrant acidity makes it both highly food-friendly and effortlessly drinkable, while its structure ensures it will age gracefully for a decade or more. The fruit comes from select blocks in the Nathan Coombs estate in Coombsville and is made similarly to the Paul Hobbs wines, with native yeast fermentation in tank and aging up to 18 months in one-third new French oak.
