The sophmore release of this California Pinot Noir is shockingly good, ESPECIALLY at this pricepoint. Outlier wines are different by design. Every aspect of their approach—from the vineyards to your glass—is thoughtful and intentional. The team at Outlier, led by winemaker Derek Rohlffs, is inspired by nature and committed to being proactive stewards of the environment. That’s why they do things organically, using innovative regenerative dry-farming practices, natural pest management, and minimal intervention during fermentation.
Even Outlier's approach to packaging is sustainably-minded. Wanting their wines to be a true reflection of the beautiful vineyards from which they hail, while protecting and restoring the ecosystem. Outlier is proud to be blazing new trails in winemaking.
VINEYARD INFORMATION: This delicious wine is produced from a single, organically-farmed vineyard in the upper reaches of Spring Valley, a narrow ravine just east of Clear Lake. The cool micro-climate at Long Valley Ranch allows for the slow ripening that is so critically important when it comes to producing balanced Pinot Noir. This outlying CCOF-certified vineyard is the only one for miles around. A mix of Pinot Noir vines were established in 2015, including Dijon clones 114, 115, 667, 777, and 943. Long Valley Ranch is off the beaten path but the 10 mile drive up the dirt road leading to the vineyard is worth it...and then some.

This wine is rich, lively, with aromas of dark cherry, plum, orange marmalade, dried sage, and notes of potpourri on the nose. The flavors on the palate are black strawberry, raspberry, blood orange zest, layered with clove, mineral, and a dry supple finish. Pair with grilled salmon in miso glaze and bamboo shoots.

A light-bodied, lithe and agile wine that's built on vibrant acidity for a fresh, mouthwatering texture and elegant fruit, tea and earth flavors. Moderate tannins brace sour cherry, red cherry, black tea and mellow spice flavors. Blended with 32% Mendocino County grapes. Drink or hold.
