St. Francis Reserve Merlot 2021
| Category | Red Wine |
| Varietal | |
| Brand | St. Francis |
| Origin | California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Valley |
This wine is a classic in the Saint Francis stable and was responsible for launching the success of the winery. The Reserve Merlot shows off the rich and flavorful fruit grown in the Wild Oak Estate Vineyard and Behler Estate Vineyard, both in Sonoma Valley. This picturesque valley is surrounded by the Sonoma Mountains to the west and the Mayacamas Mountains to the east, providing perfect conditions for Merlot grapes. For additional richness and length, Merlot from high atop Sonoma Mountain was blended in to complement our valley floor fruit. This area’s warm summer days are cooled by evening breezes and fog from the Pacific Ocean, resulting in fruit with deep, complex flavors and aromas.

Handsomely structured, with refined red currant, mocha and tomato leaf accents that build richness toward polished tannins. Drink now through 2031. 980 cases made.

An opaque red/black color, the 2021 Merlot Sonoma Valley Reserve leads with notes of dark earth, black plum, cocoa, and espresso. Full-bodied, it coats the palate and retains a delicate freshness on the finish, with hints of red apple and plush tannins. It's an approachable wine now but can be enjoyed over the next 6-8 years.
